COIL offers a superior range of illuminated pocket magnifiers featuring pre-focused tungsten bulbs for even light distribution. The ergonomic design includes a conveniently placed thumb switch to easily turn on the light. Eye clinics often recommend these magnifiers because their bi-aspheric lenses are free of significant distortion. The abrasion-resistant lens coating ensures long-lasting durability. With varying magnification levels, these magnifiers suit different applications. Each magnifier comes with a protective pouch and requires 2 x AAA batteries (not supplied). Note that most people are switching now to the LED version of this line or the superior COIL Autotouch series.

Soft and comfortable working light

Virtually all illuminated magnifiers once used tungsten bulbs, but increasingly, manufacturers are replacing them with LED alternatives. This shift is regrettable in some ways, because the warm light from tungsten bulbs significantly reduces eye strain, making them ideal for extended use. Many people still prefer tungsten bulbs, especially those with visual impairments, as they offer a softer, more comfortable light. Additionally, tungsten bulbs provide high-quality, clear illumination, enhancing the fine details of objects being examined. People also value that tungsten bulbs don’t produce harsh, glaring light, which can distort colours and create unwanted shadows. As a result, magnifiers with tungsten bulbs remain particularly popular among hobbyists, professionals, and anyone who requires reliable, precise lighting for detailed tasks.

Magnification strengths up to 11x

All the magnifiers in this series share a lens diameter of around 1½”. There is a magnification strength for most users, with five different levels from 3x up to 11x. The more powerful the lens the shorter the working distance and the closer it needs to be held up to the eye. All users will welcome comfortable contoured shape, which easily fits the hand and contains a large on-off switch in the centre for easy operation.
