At around 4.5 inches in diameter, this is the largest of our ‘Sherlock Holmes’ handheld magnifiers. Whether it would help you find extra clues is another matter, but you’ll certainly be able to collate more of them under the lens. Use it to get a bigger overview of text passages, spreadsheet columns, pictures, photos, maps or plans.

As with all magnifying glasses, the rule is that the larger the lens the lower the magnification strength. This one still gives a respectable 2x (two times) power, enough to cover many general magnification tasks in work or home environments.

As soon as you pick this magnifier up, you will notice that it is no lightweight in your hand. Weighing over half a pound, much of that comes from the lens, which is made of glass. Notably heavier than plastic, it has the benefit of offering greater stain and scratch-resistance, also providing optimum light transmission and perfect visual acuity. Additional metal components bump the weight – and quality – a few more notches.

Longer handle with screw fitting

Clearly this is a magnifying glass especially well-suited to larger hands. The handle alone is over 4 inches in length but is still pleasant to hold, being made from smoothly contoured, durable ABS plastic. Please note that all our classic magnifiers are made with screw type handles, so always check handles are screwed tight before use.
