The ultimate large magnifying glass with light?
It's clear from this huge illuminated LED hand magnifier, that magnifying glasses have come a long way since they were associated with the great fictional detective Sherlock Holmes. In those days a magnifier would have been a rudimentary - or elementary? - affair made out of good but heavy components, with a fairly small lens. Moving forward a century or so and how things have changed.
At 5-inches in diameter this magnifier, is perhaps the biggest hand held magnifier with light in the UK - and just like Sherlock, it's also one of the smartest. It has a beautiful satin silver rim and an ergonomic, rubberised black handle housing a super bright LED light. An easy on-off switch on the handle sits just above a compartment that needs only one AAA battery to power the light. Keeping down cost, keeping down weight, keeping down energy consumption.

State-of-the-art magnifiers: LED leads the way
Magnifiers have come a long way since they were associated with the great fictional detective Sherlock Holmes. In those days a magnifier would have been a rudimentary – or elementary? – affair made out of good but heavy components, with a fairly small lens. Moving forward a century or so and how things have changed. At 5-inches in diameter this magnifier, made by UltraOptix, is perhaps the biggest lighted magnifier in the UK – and just like Sherlock Holmes, it’s also one of the smartest. It has a beautiful satin silver rim and an ergonomic, rubberised black handle housing a super bright LED light. The main lens magnifies photos, books, charts and spreadsheet two times (2x magnification) while a clever in-built bifocal spot lens offers 6x magnification for small-print tiny objects and fine detail. Its long-life white LED increases contrast of letting against page and is perfect for illuminating books, maps, crafts, even X-rays and anything else where magnification over a large area is required. Surprisingly it needs just one little AAA battery, which fits inside a sliding compartment on the handle. The 5” LED Lighted Magnifier makes a great gift, being packaged in an attractive UltraOptix-brand hanging box with see-through front and back. .
